Responsibilities

  • Support to the design, development and selection of basic hardware components utilizing fundamental mechanical engineering principles, theories and techniques.
  • Design and development of specific elements of High-Speed IO Interconnect and Cable devices or components to meet specified design requirements.
  • Perform Mechanical Analyses- Obtain working knowledge of company standard analysis tools. Perform basic static, dynamic and heat transfer analyses of mechanical structures, when required.
  • Compile data for investigation by senior mechanical engineering personnel.
  • Support Verification/Validation of Design- Support the fabrication and environmental testing of High-Speed IO Interconnect devices. Assist in the design and fabrication of prototype hardware. Support the environmental testing of hardware including vibration, shock, thermal, fatigue and others as required.
  • Document results for review by senior engineering personnel.
  • Prepare Documentation- Generate and review the technical content of drawings, engineering specifications, reports and other documentation associated with the mechanical design. Generate and present design review packages for internal and external audiences.
  • Support Continuous Improvement- Conduct failure analysis of product returned from field and qualification failures. Lead customization efforts on assigned product lines when required.
  • Lead sustainment efforts on assigned product lines- Provide Mechanical Engineering support to products in production. Manage material issues, perform root cause assessments of discovered issues. Perform analysis as required to verify validity of proposed solutions.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred)
  • 3-5 years of electromechanical product design/support experience
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude
  • Familiarity with Structural and Thermal FEA software and capability
  • Grasp of basic electrical theory
  • Ability to support design and development of hardware to ensure requirements compliance
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and perform tolerance assessments
  • Experience with ASME Y-14.5 is a definite plus
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical analysis to ensure good design
  • Proficiency with Solidworks 2018 or higher
  • Ability to conduct experimentation and basic testing. Familiarity with basic measurement tools and multimeters
  • Good communication skills and organizational skills
