U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to support the John Cochran St. Louis Hospital Replacement Program—a landmark healthcare infrastructure project replacing a seismically deficient bed tower and transforming facilities into a modern medical campus for Veterans.

Area of consideration: Any permanent civilian employees located within USACE meeting qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a mechanical engineer for the JCVA Program Office, applying technical expertise in design and technical review for the program’s most significant and complex projects.
  • Performs technical oversight on JCVA program designs, construction data, and resources, ensuring all deliverables comply with applicable codes and criteria.
  • Resolves design problems of significant depth and complexity; provides input and guidance on design.
  • Maintains understanding of current and applicable mechanical, HVAC, plumbing technical criteria, codes, and regulations impacting design, cost estimating, and construction.
  • Performs technical reviews of in-house and A-E design products, focusing on quality, completeness, timeliness, and levels of effort; initiates action for improvement.
  • Prepares technical sections of contracts for A-E services and assists in preparation of cost estimates and scopes of work.
  • Works within an Engineering Team in a collaborative environment promoting efficiency, accuracy, and excellence in quality.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-11 or GS-12 grade level, demonstrating expertise in leading engineering teams, applying technical expertise to design reviews, and interpreting codes and criteria.
