Mechanical Engineer - Energy & Power
About the role
The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, transforming the utility landscape to enhance reliability and sustainability. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future. We have multiple positions available for mechanical engineers seeking to develop their skills working closely with our clients and operations teams as we expand our energy transition portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Provide feasibility studies and design and construction oversight for energy projects.
- Evaluate client energy needs and develop concept-level plans and solutions.
- Take detailed design solutions through to full execution of the project.
- Engage with clients to understand their energy requirements and develop tailored solutions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive project delivery.
- Lead mechanical discipline design teams and coordinate with other disciplines on larger projects.
- Perform industry-standard energy calculations and analyze construction drawings and specifications.
- Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure project success.
Requirements
- Professional Engineering license.
- Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- At least 4 years of experience in energy engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to perform industry-standard energy calculations and analyze construction drawings and specifications.
- Effective communication and technical writing skills.
- Experience leading mechanical discipline design teams and coordinating with multidiscipline teams on larger projects.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards for energy and power projects, including ASME, NFPA, ASHRAE.
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, CADWorx and NavisWorks.
- Experience with Energy analysis software such as Trane Trace 3D Plus.
- Experience with Hydraulic modeling software such as Pipe-Flo or AFT Fathom/Arrow.
- Experience with Process system modeling software such as Thermoflow or Aspen/Hysys.
- Experience with Pipe Stress Modelling Software such as CAESAR II or AutoPipe.
- Experience with Thermal utility plants and distribution systems (steam, hot water, chilled water).
- Experience with Utility master planning or decarbonization/climate response planning.
- Experience with Cogeneration or combined heat and power systems.
- Experience with Geothermal power systems.
- Experience with Renewable energy systems.
Qualifications
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and the confidence to explore innovative solutions.
- Passionate about developing reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
- Motivated by a challenge and enjoys working with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team to develop innovative solutions.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $110,600.00 to $145,200.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
