Mechanical Engineer, Data Center Engineering

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.
Responsibilities
Key job responsibilities include designing and implementing energy-efficient mechanical systems for next-generation data centers, leading cross-functional teams in developing innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges, and overseeing project lifecycle from conception through implementation, including budget management.
Additional responsibilities include fostering collaborative relationships with hardware teams to optimize facility-equipment integration, guiding continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and performance monitoring, and collaborating with diverse teams to create energy-efficient solutions that power the digital world.
A day in the life
You'll start your day connecting with global team members to review ongoing projects. You might analyze energy efficiency data, collaborate on innovative cooling solutions, or mentor fellow engineers. You'll participate in design reviews, engage with vendors, and contribute to sustainability initiatives that shape our environmental footprint.

Qualifications
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
- 4+ years of commissioning experience
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer License
- Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360)
- Understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, CFD Analysis
- Knowledge of building management systems

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually, depending on location. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
