Mechanical Engineer – Data Center

Essential Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems for mission critical and data center facilities, including:
    • Cooling systems
    • Chilled water systems
    • CRAH/CRAC units
    • Air distribution systems
    • HEAT rejection systems
    • Ventilation systems
    • Plumbing systems supporting mission critical operations
  • Prepare engineering calculations, load calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and construction documents
  • Cookordinate designs with electrical, structural, architectural, technology, and commissioning teams
  • Participate in design meetings, owner meetings, and multidisciplinary coordination reviews
  • Support energy analysis, redundancy evaluations, and system reliability planning
  • Review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and contractor questions during construction
  • Participate in site visits, commissioning activities, punch walks, and field investigations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Support project schedules, budgets, and deliverable deadlines
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers, as applicable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure
  • 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience preferred
  • Experience with mission critical or data center mechanical systems preferred
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD preferred
  • Familiarity with HVAC load calculation and energy modeling software preferred
  • Understanding of applicable mechanical, energy, and building codes
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills

  • Data center or colocation facility design
  • Redundant and resilient HVAC system design
  • Chilled water plant design
  • Airflow management and containment strategies
  • Mission critical commissioning processes
  • BIM coordination and multidisciplinary project delivery
  • Sustainable and energy-efficient system design
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis
