Mechanical Engineer - CMTA Energy Solutions

About the role

CMTA, a Legence Company, is one of the fastest growing engineering firms in the U.S., with nationally recognized expertise in sustainable, high‑performance building engineering. The Energy Solutions division is the fastest growing division. We are seeking an entry‑level Mechanical Engineer to support performance contracts in our Energy Solutions offices located in Baltimore MD, Fairfax VA, Richmond VA, Boston MA, and California. The role involves helping clients, developing new opportunities, presenting proposals, and contributing to CMTA’s outstanding culture.

Responsibilities

• Help develop and present project opportunities to potential clients
• Support client meetings, industry events, and proposal development
• Project development including site visits, audits, and energy calculations
• Engineering design review of drawings and specifications
• Support the bidding process to ensure quality and competitive outcomes
• Help facilitate the contract administration process
• Work with the construction manager to ensure a smooth construction period
• Commission installed systems to validate performance
• Support the client through the warranty phase as needed
• Work with our Measurement & Verification (M&V) professional to develop M&V reports

Requirements

Minimum 0‑3 years of experience with an Energy Services company OR a consulting engineering/commissioning firm is preferred.

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.

Qualifications

Self‑motivated individual who thrives on helping clients and has the technical background to be involved and lead all phases of work. Experience in HVAC design and commissioning is advantageous for transitioning to the Energy Solutions group.

Pay

Base Salary Range: Fairfax VA, Baltimore MD, California and Boston, MA – $75,000 – $90,000.

Base Salary Range: Richmond VA – $65,000 – $80,000.

This role is also eligible for an annual performance‑based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed.
