Responsibilities
- Develop BOM’s for the entire product line, including ERP integration.
- Create detailed layouts for production lines and product specifications.
- Communicate with internal resources and customers to understand market driven specifications.
- Use CAD software to create accurate blueprints SolidWorks Simulation for production and product development.
- Develop prototypes to make modifications and test product performance.
- Improve productivity and lower COGS.
- Design for Automation Review processes and procedures to support manufacturing, lead improvements in processes and productivity.
- Satisfy applicable codes and engineering standards in the design and execution of assigned work.
- Create and Maintain project and production schedules.
- Improve quality and efficiency.
- Acquire, use, and continuously develop personal technical and professional knowledge of products to assist customers and other company personnel.
- Provide solutions to moderately complex engineering problems.
- Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives, projects, or events.
- Design, propose, and implement improved processes, including new procedures, systems, or process flows to increase efficiency, quality, or capacity.
- Create and update documentation: standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, flowcharts, control plans, process specifications, and reports.
- Conduct root cause analysis when process issues arise; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain and measure process performance metrics — such as throughput, cycle time, yield, quality, efficiency — before and after changes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. production, quality assurance, operations, supply chain, IT) to ensure process changes fit business needs and are implemented smoothly.
- Manage or support project planning for process improvement initiatives: defining scope, objectives, timeline, risk management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Experience in project engineering or design engineering with previous experience in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing, welding, specification preparation, structural analysis, mechanical design, testing and field support, process improvement.
- Experience with steel, non-ferrous materials, composites, and plastics.
- Effective technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders to drive execution of work on time and on-budget.
- Exposure to design for automation.
- Critical thinking skills, creativity, and innovation, challenge the status quo, willing to push the envelope and think, outside of the box.
