Mechanical Engineer

As a Mechanical Engineer in the transformer value stream, you will play a key role in the product design of devices to monitor transformer health. This role involves designing, developing, creating prototypes, optimizing, and testing while collaborating with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, EE designers, manufacturing test engineers, and peers from the global R&D organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex components and assemblies with a focus on Quality, Cost, and DFM (Design for Manufacturing).
  • Utilize critical thinking for continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for innovation and process enhancements, including automation and AI tools.
  • Fabricate physical prototypes for proof of concept and testing.
  • Perform mechanical and structural analysis as needed (FEA using SolidWorks).
  • Present mechanical design concepts to project teams.
  • Evaluate new components, materials, and manufacturing methods for application in new and existing products.
  • Verify acceptance criteria is met, support transition to production, and perform failure analysis on problem areas.
  • Document features, issues, and tests in compliance with internal processes.
  • Derive configured product models from existing products.
  • Perform Engineering Change Requests that involve updating drawings and BOMs.
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct design reviews, assist in FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), PFMEA (Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), and support root cause analysis for mechanical issues.
  • Create 3D models, detailed mechanical drawings, BOMs, electro-mechanical parts, and gauges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Design Engineer.
  • Extensive experience developing 3D CAD designs for parts and test fixtures using Creo, SolidWorks, or similar design platforms.
  • Strong grasp of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and best practices.
  • Ability to operate machine tools to modify prototype parts, including adding details, threading, polishing, and finishing parts before testing.
  • Experience in designs involving electro-mechanical and optical integration.
  • Experience with DFM and processes such as injection molding, machining, sheet metal forming, and aluminum casting.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and AI tools is desirable.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $66,900 – $124,300 (local currency).
