- Create and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications using industry-standard platforms such as CREO Parametric or AutoCAD.
- Perform structural, thermal, fluid, and bolted-joint analyses to validate mechanical integrity under demanding constraints.
- Troubleshoot heavy mechanical machinery, including large-scale motors, power generators, and high-pressure hydraulic systems.
- Drive engineering investigations into component failures, determine root causes, and present actionable engineering solutions to program stakeholders.
- Cook up system validation protocols at manufacturing plants, land-based test installations, and active naval vessels.
- Respond to emergency shipboard technical requests, delivering hands-on troubleshooting and repair support under high-pressure, real-world constraints.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of professional mechanical design experience, ideally within the defense or aerospace sector.
- Prior experience using CAD software such as ProE/CREO or AutoCAD alongside an understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience applying core engineering concepts professionally, including thermodynamics, materials science, fluid dynamics, and fatigue/fracture mechanics.
Qualifications
- Direct experience with carrier launch/recovery machinery or similar high-energy electromagnetic systems.
- Familiarity with the Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) framework.
