Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical design tasks, including:
  • HVAC load calculations
  • Verifying compliance with building code, energy codes, and various standards
  • Design calculations
  • Space planning and equipment layouts
  • Ductwork and piping systems design
  • Specification editing and review
  • Visit project sites to gather design information and document existing conditions
  • Cookordination with internal staff and external consultants to develop cohesive, technically sound solutions
  • Perform Mechanical QA/QC reviews
  • Provide construction support services: submittal/RFI reviews, site visits, punch lists, and progress checks

Essential Functions

  • Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods
  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Occasional travel to various project sites for field investigation and construction inspection (20%)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to both clients and teams
  • Proven analytical and critical-thinking abilities to support design development and problem-solving
  • Strong knowledge of design and coordination tools
  • Understanding of applicable codes, building standards, and effective space planning strategies
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to contributing to a collaborative and inclusive studio culture
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Experience with HVAC load calculation software Trace 3D is a plus
