About the Role

Applies engineering principles to design, develop, and modify mechanical products.

Responsibilities

  • Provide concept designs for new products.
  • Design and create complete drawing packages for new products using CAD.
  • Obtain components and produce draft cost estimates for designs.
  • Perform development testing and evaluation of designs in preparation for production and regulatory submittals.
  • Provide engineering support for production issues covering manufacture, quality, and testing.
  • Conceptualize, define, design, build, and test new products.
  • Review specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts.
  • Meet and collaborate with internal contacts to understand the needs and requirements for new and existing products or mechanical designs.
  • Use software to plan and develop simulations, including testing and revising product designs.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products.
  • May be involved in fabrication or provide support and consultation for installation and/or repair of products.

Requirements

This position requires an associate's degree in mechanical or civil engineering; a bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering is preferred. Five years of directly related experience is preferred.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Outlook.
  • Critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic understanding of engineering calculations, dimensioning, tolerances, and other standard engineering practices.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Ability to produce drawings in 2D and 3D using AutoCAD Inventor.

Work Environment

General office conditions with exposure to moderate noise levels. When in the manufacturing area, exposed to general factory conditions and may be exposed to high noise levels.

Physical Abilities

  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement to type and work on a computer.
  • Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on a computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required in the manufacturing areas.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
