About the Role
As the Mechanical Engineer of Capital Projects, you’ll plan, execute, and oversee capital expenditure projects related to steel fabrication and manufacturing. This role involves designing mechanical systems, managing automated machine installation project timelines and budgets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, budgeting, and implementation of capital projects involving mechanical systems in steel fabrication plants.
- Identify and specify mechanical equipment and systems required for fabrication and erection processes.
- Analyze current operations and recommend changes to improve productivity, efficiency, safety, and quality; design and oversee custom mechanical solutions.
- Develop and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Work with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery and installation of mechanical components.
- Ensure all mechanical designs and installations comply with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with fabrication, erection, quality, and safety teams to align project goals and execution.
- Monitor project costs and schedules to ensure alignment with capital expenditure plans.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or steel fabrication industrial environment.
- Shop floor and/or job site experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, construction engineering, or a related field.
- Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and project management tools.
Schedule
This position requires as many hours as needed to fulfill daily and weekly obligations, including occasional evenings and weekends. Travel up to 30% of the time is required.
