Mechanical Engineer
APTIM is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to perform maintenance, repair, and construction mechanical engineering support for the United States Army Garrison Redstone (USAG-R) Department of Public Works (DPW) in partnership with AKIMA. The role provides support for buildings and structures, roads and grounds, equipment, and utility systems at Redstone Arsenal operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage designs and orchestrate the planning, design, and phased scheduling of assigned projects.
- Coordinate and provide technical consultation with other engineering functions such as Electrical, Energy, Environmental, Civil, managers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.
- Serve as mechanical design liaison with the Director of Public Works, the Army Corps of Engineers, architect and engineering firms, and other design agencies, providing advisory reviews/recommendations as required.
- Provide technical input to the Annual Work Plan process, including listing potential projects to be included.
- Provide Mechanical Engineering advisory services and develop criteria for equipment installation, maintenance, repair, and alteration/construction job order requests.
- Use Maintenance Connection to assist with cataloging new equipment and to facilitate/track new and existing projects.
- Provide and interpret operational drawings in support of maintenance personnel for issues related to dedicated buildings.
- Perform HVAC facility/systems assessments and prepare associated reports and/or project documentation as needed.
- Provide design and replacement recommendations for existing/new HVAC systems as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 6-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering in a related environment.
- Valid State Driver’s License.
- Must meet requirements for pre-employment physical, drug screening, background check, and MVR check (MVR points are subject to company policy).
- Must obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must be a US Citizen and able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities.
- Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CADD experience, AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and Engineering in Training (EIT) candidates preferred.
- Professional Engineer License (PE) is a plus.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in cold/hot/dusty/loud environments.

Pay
As of the date of this posting, the pay range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 per year. Compensation depends on experience, education, key skills, geographic location, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity.
