Job Summary
A mechanical engineer will be responsible for the design and layout of systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for various projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical engineering design and layout of systems for commercial, industrial, correctional, and municipal projects.
- Aid in the development of probable construction cost estimates for projects within the department.
- Prepare design computations including heating and cooling loads, ventilation, etc.
- Aid in the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and permits for projects.
- Provide technical support to other staff in their area of expertise.
- Work with other disciplines and project managers as needed to complete project deadlines.
- Perform drafting on a regular basis to produce construction drawings as needed.
- Review contractor submittals, respond to questions from contractors, and perform visits as needed.
- Understand terminology and other concepts related to engineering and construction practices.
- Responsible for job-specific quality system tasks as defined in the Project Management Manual.
- Walkthrough and document conditions in existing buildings to prepare for the design of renovations or draft building assessment reports.
- Aid in the review of contractor submittals and respond to contractor questions during construction.
- Provide quality control review of peer’s designs.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- EIT (Engineer in Training), preferred.
- 2+ years of experience required.
- Revit experience required.
- InDesign experience preferred.
- Possess strong organizational and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work alone or with a team.
- Able to meet deadlines.
