Mechanical Engineer 4

Responsibilities

• Design of new products and test hardware
• Improvement of existing products
• Utilize mechanical engineering expertise during proposal and concept generation, product development, production, and qualification testing phases
• Develop creative solutions meeting product requirements
• Proficient with 3D modeling and drafting, supporting production, integration, and testing
• Leverage commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products paired with custom hardware
• Engage vendors, manufacturers, and subject matter experts in design decisions
• Participate in design reviews at part, subsystem, and system levels including Peer Reviews, DFMAs, PDRs, and CDRs
• Provide leadership on mechanical designs and mentor junior engineers
• Work closely with systems, electrical, test, and production engineers
• Leverage strong verbal and written communication to adapt to high-pressure situations

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related STEM field
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance
• Professional work experience of at least 8 years, including design, integration, or testing of mechanical components and assemblies
• Competent in 3-D CAD modeling tools (CREO preferred)
• Working knowledge of data management systems (Windchill preferred)
• Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5 standards)
• Strong planning and organizational skills with adaptability to changing priorities and assignments
• Experience performing trade studies
• Self-starter with quick learning ability, adaptable to dynamic environments, and good time management skills
• Excellent teaming and communication skills
• Demonstrated creative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assemblies, water jet, laser, welding, EDM, additive manufacturing, etc.
• Understanding of aerospace materials and coatings
