Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and field integration of next-generation optical wireless hardware.
- Moving beyond traditional CAD work, drive rapid prototyping, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and on-site deployments.
- Bridge the gap between advanced lab concepts and ruggedized, real-world robotic and industrial connectivity solutions.
- Design and model mechanical enclosures, mounts, and integration systems for high-bandwidth optical hardware using SolidWorks or Fusion.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate optical sensors and communications equipment into diverse industrial environments.
- Lead field trials and customer pilots, troubleshooting complex system-level mechanical issues during real-world deployments.
Requirements
- 3-8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for robotics, autonomous systems, or ruggedized hardware products.
- Demonstrates mastery of CAD modeling and a proven track record of moving designs from initial concept to physical deployment.
- Thrives in fast-paced startup environments and is willing to travel periodically for hands-on testing and on-site installations.
Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
