Position Summary The Mechanical Engineer (Piping) is responsible for the design and engineering of critical process piping systems from conceptual design through plant startup, as well as providing technical support for operating facilities. The role supports projects across energy transition, circular economy, and petrochemical sectors, ensuring that piping systems are designed in compliance with industry codes, safety requirements, and operational needs. Key Responsibilities Functional Responsibilities Design piping systems and pressure vessels in accordance with industry codes and standardsOptimize plant designs for:Grassroots projectsModifications to existing facilitiesDevelop and maintain specifications for:Piping materialsPiping componentsValves and specialty itemsPerform engineering calculations, including:Minimum wall thicknessBranch reinforcementPressure capacity of bends and fittingsExternal pressure and hydrostatic test pressurePerform pipe stress analysis to ensure compliance with applicable codesPrepare engineering deliverables, including:Piping and equipment layoutsPiping isometricsPipe support drawingsSupport procurement activities and coordinate with vendors during:FabricationInstallationProvide technical support during:ConstructionPre-commissioningStartupCross-train and support other mechanical disciplines, including:Pressure vesselsHeat exchangersRotating equipment Leadership / Management Responsibilities Work under supervision while contributing to engineering deliverables Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teamsSupport knowledge development and cross-functional learning Compliance / Operational Responsibilities Ensure compliance with engineering codes, standards, and project requirements Maintain accuracy and quality of engineering deliverables Support adherence to safety, operational, and maintenance considerations Follow company procedures and engineering practices Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher0–5 years of relevant engineering experience (more experienced candidates may be considered)Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skillsExperience with 2D and 3D design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)EIT/PE license or willingness to obtainFamiliarity with engineering codes and standards such as:ASME BPVCB31.1 and B31.3ASTMAPIMSSNACE Preferred Qualifications Experience with plant modeling software (e.g., Smart 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AVEVA E3D) Experience with pipe stress analysis software and/or FEA Exposure to chemical process or industrial plant design environments Role Specific Knowledge & Skills Strong understanding of piping system design and engineering principles Ability to perform pressure and stress calculations Familiarity with piping codes and industry standards Ability to develop drawings and engineering documentation Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams Strong communication and technical documentation skills Working Conditions Occasional travel to field sitesAbility to support construction, commissioning, and startup activities Additional Information No sponsorship or relocation assistance available.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
