Mechanical Engineer 1
Job Summary
Develops new systems and components for fire suppression, explosion suppression, and pressure relief industries in accordance with product requirements. Requires frequent independent interpretation of requirements and coordination of efforts with other engineers, sales, marketing, and manufacturing.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal.
- Confers with Sales, Production and Quality to clarify or resolve problems.
- Performs or organizes experiments to determine necessary engineering parameters.
- Discusses, analyzes, summarizes and publishes test results.
- Uses test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Evaluates test results for possible application to development of other uses.
- Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
- Performs project and system design.
- Uses design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
- Confers with other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
- Makes recommendations to appropriate personnel on improvements to current production processes leading to increased efficiency.
- Captures and coordinates completion of all documents required to produce new products including creation of assembly drawings, bills of materials and item masters in the Fike business system as well as any other documentation that may be required.
- Provides engineering and manufacturing support on new and/or existing products when problems arise with manufacturing or approval processes.
- Interacts with customers to provide engineered solutions to their requirements and product problems.
- Provides support in calculations and application information.
- Studies ASME, ANSI, MIL, AISI, IFI, NACE, API, ISO, AWS and NFPA standards.
- Applies these standards as appropriate to new designs.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Two years related post degree experience.
- PREFERRED: Master’s degree in a related technical field.
- Experience with ASME Section VIII or XIII and applicable military standards.
- Background in fluid flow, metallurgy, or stress analysis using finite element methods.
- A background with manufacturing business system’s software.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $67,527 to $84,402 a year and may increase depending on the level of experience of the candidate.
