About the role

Whiting-Turner is a National ENR Top 25 General Contractor committed to fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture. We are seeking a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Manager to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Coverage of all MEP activities within a construction project, including oversight of the MEP team.
  • Ensuring proper installation and commissioning of MEP systems.
  • Coordinating with other project teams to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems into the overall building design.
  • Managing and leading a team of engineers and subcontractors.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to team members as needed.
  • Reviewing MEP designs to ensure alignment with project specifications, building codes, and client requirements.
  • Ensuring the selection of appropriate materials and systems, considering cost, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Approving MEP shop drawings and coordinating design modifications with other teams.
  • Managing the MEP project budget and ensuring all MEP activities are completed within financial constraints.
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation of all MEP activities, including contracts, change orders, and project milestones.
  • Communicating with clients to understand their needs and providing updates on project progress.
  • Addressing issues or challenges that arise during the MEP installation and commissioning phases.
  • Ensuring all MEP systems and installations comply with local codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Performing regular site inspections and quality checks to ensure work is being executed to the highest standards.
  • Maintaining client expectations and ensuring satisfaction with the quality and timeliness of MEP system installations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in MEP management within construction or facilities management.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • A professional certification in MEP engineering or project management (e.g., PE, PMP, LEED, CCP), preferred.
  • Experience in one or more disciplines of MEP such as mechanical, electrical, controls, plumbing, fire alarm, fire protection, special systems, commissioning.
  • A strong understanding of MEP design, field installation, building systems, construction methods, and project management principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Knowledge of MEP codes and installation standards.
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient systems and sustainable building practices.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in MEP estimating.
  • The ability to lead an MEP team.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of MEP design, field installation, building systems, construction methods, and project management principles.
  • Proficiency in MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
