About the role

Whiting-Turner is a National ENR Top 25 General Contractor committed to fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture. We are seeking a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Manager to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities

Coverage of all MEP activities within a construction project, including oversight of the MEP team.
Ensuring proper installation and commissioning of MEP systems.
Coordinating with other project teams to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems into the overall building design.
Managing and leading a team of engineers and subcontractors.
Providing technical support and guidance to team members as needed.
Reviewing MEP designs to ensure alignment with project specifications, building codes, and client requirements.
Ensuring the selection of appropriate materials and systems, considering cost, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
Approving MEP shop drawings and coordinating design modifications with other teams.
Managing the MEP project budget and ensuring all MEP activities are completed within financial constraints.
Maintaining comprehensive documentation of all MEP activities, including contracts, change orders, and project milestones.
Communicating with clients to understand their needs and providing updates on project progress.
Addressing issues or challenges that arise during the MEP installation and commissioning phases.
Ensuring all MEP systems and installations comply with local codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Performing regular site inspections and quality checks to ensure work is being executed to the highest standards.
Maintaining client expectations and ensuring satisfaction with the quality and timeliness of MEP system installations.

Requirements

A minimum of 3 years of experience in MEP management within construction or facilities management.
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
A professional certification in MEP engineering or project management (e.g., PE, PMP, LEED, CCP), preferred.
Experience in one or more disciplines of MEP such as mechanical, electrical, controls, plumbing, fire alarm, fire protection, special systems, commissioning.
A strong understanding of MEP design, field installation, building systems, construction methods, and project management principles.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
Knowledge of MEP codes and installation standards.
Knowledge of energy-efficient systems and sustainable building practices.
The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in MEP estimating.
The ability to lead an MEP team.

Skills

Strong understanding of MEP design, field installation, building systems, construction methods, and project management principles.
Proficiency in MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
Knowledge of energy-efficient systems and sustainable building practices.
The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
