Job Description
Parsons is seeking a Principal Mechanical / Electrical Inspector to support a major project based in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this role, you will provide senior-level inspection oversight for mechanical and electrical systems to help ensure construction activities meet project specifications, applicable codes, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform senior-level field inspections of mechanical and electrical installations for compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Monitor construction activities related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, power distribution, lighting, controls, low-voltage systems, and other related building systems.
- Verify workmanship, materials, testing, commissioning activities, and installation methods for quality and compliance.
- Identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, and potential risks, and coordinate corrective actions with contractors, engineers, and project management staff.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, test reports, and inspection documentation as needed to support field verification activities.
- Prepare detailed daily reports, inspection records, punch lists, and deficiency logs.
- Witness testing, startup, balancing, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Coverage with construction managers, design teams, safety personnel, contractors, and client representatives to support project progress and issue resolution.
- Support enforcement of site safety requirements and promote safe construction practices in the field.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors or project staff, as needed.
- Participate in progress meetings, site walks, quality reviews, and project coordination sessions.
- Track completed work against project schedules and report concerns that may affect quality, safety, or timely delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience.
- Significant experience in construction inspection involving mechanical and electrical systems on large, complex infrastructure, commercial, industrial, or public works projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in inspection of one or more of the following: HVAC systems, Plumbing and piping systems, Fire protection systems, Electrical power distribution, Lighting and controls, Instrumentation and low-voltage systems.
- Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and test documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with inspection reporting tools, Microsoft Office applications, and standard construction documentation platforms.
- Able to work effectively in an active construction environment and coordinate with diverse project stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to the project site as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer license, ICC certifications, NICET certification, or other relevant inspection or trade certifications.
- Prior experience serving in a lead or principal inspector role.
- Experience on municipal, transportation, aviation, water, wastewater, or other large public-sector projects.
- Experience with Wastewater/Water Facilities.
