Mechanical Designer

About the role

Are you someone who loves to solve mechanical problems, work in a team setting, and see your ideas become reality? If you are, we're hiring a Mechanical Designer to perform complex mechanical design tasks, improve product designs and work collaboratively with various teams!

Supporting Meaningful Work

• Work with engineers, mechanical designers, manufacturing, suppliers, marketing and industrial design
• Perform large, complex mechanical design assignments related to the creation, development and/or improvement of product designs
• Conceive designs, mechanical design analysis, intent and verification
• Maintain technical integrity of the product by sound application of mechanical design principles, fabrication principles and verification activities
• Create computer models for mechanical design analysis, engineering analysis and other uses
• Use mechanical design process tools for mechanical design and verification applications
• Create documentation package and verify accuracy and completeness
• Support mechanical engineers, team members and customers
• Ensure that goals and objectives are met through effective involvement, contribution and coordination
• Support department and corporation goals
• Ensure that goals and objectives are met through effective involvement and contribution
• Comply with the Steelcase quality system
• Ensure that all applicable procedures and standards are followed
• Ensure quality results in all deliverables
• Define and implement professional development plan with management
• Participation in professional organization(s), networking, educational and certification courses
• Assist with the technical portion of an initiative
• Positively influence peers
• Effectively exercise interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree/Associate's Degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years of working experience as a mechanical designer with direct CAD applications
• Experience in PTC Creo, Solid Works and Windchill highly preferred
