Responsibilities
- Review customer-provided information to identify factors affecting product design.
- Perform necessary calculations to ensure dimensions, tolerances and other specifications are accurate as represented; notify customer of any discrepancies.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, etc., in developing designs.
- Consult other departments as needed to ensure integrity and manufacturability.
- Define, verify, and update bill of material requirements as drawings are developed.
- Ensure accuracy of work by checking dimensions, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and of various parts to the entire project.
- Notify appropriate personnel when other activities are ready to be performed during the design process (material updates, design checks, obtaining load calculation certifications, etc.).
- Submit preliminary and approval drawing packages to customers for review; make changes as needed.
- Submit final (certified) drawing package to customer.
- Submit fabrication drawings to manufacturing and monitor throughout the manufacturing process.
Requirements
- Two-year technical degree in drafting and design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD drafting software and with 3-D modeling software (AutoCAD Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Thorough knowledge of electro-mechanical product design drafting practices.
- Solid performance on pre-employment skills testing.
- Ideally 5+ years of electro-mechanical product design experience.
