About the role
This role focuses on high-impact mechanical CAD design and drafting using Creo and Windchill to support mechanical and electromechanical product development.
Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and release CAD models and drawings in Creo and manage associated data in Windchill.
- Build and manage detailed parts and assemblies, including top-down models, ensuring proper structure and configuration.
- Develop detailed drawings with exploded views, bills of materials (BOMs), and complete release packages for production.
- Administer CAD data flow from prototype through to production, ensuring accurate version control and traceability.
- Manage and maintain CAD templates, libraries, and off-the-shelf component models for consistent reuse across projects.
- Source and integrate off-the-shelf components by downloading and incorporating supplier CAD models into assemblies.
- Modify and adapt mechanical components such as bearings, housings, and covers to meet system requirements.
- Design simple mechanical components including covers, brackets, fastener selections, and gasket interfaces.
- Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 on drawings and models.
- Incorporate engineering feedback, including model edits based on finite element analysis (FEA) or other engineering results.
- Generate CAD screenshots, section views, and visual materials to support design reviews and gate reviews.
- Act as a CAD execution partner to mechanical engineers by translating design intent into robust, manufacturable CAD models and documentation.
- Produce production-ready documentation for shipped products, ensuring completeness and accuracy beyond conceptual designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams working on mechanical and electromechanical machines such as robotics, manufacturing equipment, test equipment, industrial machinery, automotive, or aerospace systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in design and drafting using Creo Parametric (or Pro/ENGINEER).
- Strong, hands-on proficiency with Creo as a primary CAD tool for parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
- Strong, hands-on proficiency with Windchill for product lifecycle management and CAD data control.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a CAD power user, with a career focus on CAD modeling and drafting.
- Experience applying GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 on mechanical drawings.
- Experience creating production documentation for shipped products rather than only concept or prototype work.
- Background working with mechanical or electromechanical machines such as robotics, manufacturing equipment, test equipment, industrial machines, automotive, or aerospace systems.
- Comfort working in a role that emphasizes CAD execution and documentation rather than a traditional mechanical engineering career path.
- Ability to collaborate closely with mechanical engineers and translate design intent into accurate CAD models and drawings.
- Willingness and ability to work in a hybrid arrangement with periodic on-site presence.
