Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components and assemblies with a focus on manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Prepare, modify, and release CAD (NX) drawings to ensure the fit, form, and function of mechanical designs.
  • Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs.
  • Operate within a team environment, working cross-functionally to provide input on design solutions and actively participating in design reviews.
  • Perform design studies to validate project proposals and support development activities.
  • Conduct engineering calculations to determine the size and strength of components, solving design problems and validating analytical designs.
  • Utilize engineering tools such as Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) to validate and optimize design content.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX, Catia, AutoCAD, Autodesk or equivalent (experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access certain necessary systems.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (preferred).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook).
  • Experience managing projects and working on cross-functional teams.
  • A minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience (preferred).

Pay

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD.
