Mechanical Cx Lead
Provides leadership, coordination, guidance, and technical expertise in all areas of quality. Responsible for the overall daily operations of quality. Develops and administers quality-related policies, procedures, techniques, and initiatives to ensure consistent adherence to quality standards on the project.
Responsibilities
- Works with project manager, superintendents, and subcontractors to develop processes and procedures that achieve 100% compliant work exceeding expectations.
- Collaborates among project team and subcontractors to promote quality as a core value of Yates Construction.
- Maintains active relationships with engineers, consultants, and industry associations.
- Assists teams with developing a project-specific Quality Management Plan (QMP).
- Supports and follows up to ensure adherence to the project-specific QMP.
- Builds and maintains system templates for various Definable Features of Work (DFOW) activities.
- Prepares DFOW for projects as required in the Quality Management Plan.
- Participates in project meetings and conducts site visits and inspections of work in place.
- Assists teams with plan and constructability reviews.
- Reads and understands specifications, reference codes, and standards; reviews and interprets contract drawings.
- Provides training and coaching for project team members to identify key project risks related to quality.
- Assists with risk prevention planning and follow-up.
- Works closely with the Quality and Construction Science Department to utilize advancements in technology for operational excellence and risk reduction.
- Acts independently as the Company Quality Control Manager (CQCM), coordinating all QC functions without delaying construction scheduling.
- Determines, communicates, and documents deficiencies, ensuring timely correction (NCR Log).
- Maintains current records providing factual evidence of required quality control activities and tests.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, using analytical skills and group problem-solving.
- Reviews shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications and contract requirements.
- Initiates the three-phase inspection process.
- Conducts daily observations to ensure implementation of all three phases of inspection and documents results.
- Examines work areas to ensure completion and compliance with contract requirements, resolving discrepancies.
- Conducts and chairs preparatory meetings.
- Chairs and documents weekly QC meetings with internal and external stakeholders (Yates and subcontractors).
- Verifies and documents that all materials received for the project conform to approved submittals, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use.
- Oversees daily and weekly QC/QA reports to reinforce conformance with established standards.
- Demonstrates Yates Core Values and Principles and follows the Yates Code of Conduct.
Safety Responsibilities
- Refuses unsafe work and ensures all work complies with established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices.
- Reports all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management.
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Advises fellow employees of hazardous situations.
- Participates in workplace inspections and required or assigned training.
- Complies with statutory requirements, including duty of care.
- Provides suggestions to improve safety.
- Maintains a mature approach to working safely.
- Attends prestart and safety meetings and contributes actively.
- Assists with administering the site safety program and ensures Trade Partner compliance with OSHA standards, Yates Site-Specific Requirements, and all applicable safety codes.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of construction standards and best practices.
- Working knowledge of the International Building Code.
- Experience with large/complex quality plan implementation.
- Computer skills using Procore, Viewpoint, SharePoint, and MS Office.
Qualifications
- An associate or undergraduate university degree or higher (preferably in Quality Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field) is preferred; other relevant education, training, or work experience may substitute.
- Minimum of three (3) years of construction experience in quality control supervision.
- Minimum of five (5) years of industrial and/or commercial construction experience.
