Mechanical Commissioning Technician

About the role

The Mechanical Commissioning Technician supports the startup, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems in mission-critical facilities. This role works closely with project teams to ensure systems such as HVAC, controls, and associated infrastructure are properly installed, tested, and fully operational prior to turnover. The position assists in developing and implementing commissioning-related policies, procedures, and standards to ensure all systems meet project and client requirements.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all mechanical commissioning activities across data center construction projects.
• Oversee commissioning processes for mechanical systems including:
  • HVAC systems (CRAH/CRAC units)
  • Chilled water systems
  • Cooling towers
  • Pumps and piping systems
  • Mechanical plant infrastructure
  • Fire, life, and safety systems
• Create daily and weekly commissioning reports that support client turnover and acceptance.
• Conduct site inspections to verify installation aligns with drawings, specifications, and mission-critical tolerances.
• Utilize construction/commissioning software such as ACC, Procore, and CxAlloy.
• Review shop drawings and mechanical submittals for conformance.
• Participate in project meetings.
• Ensure strict adherence to OSHA and site-specific safety standards.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and refuse unsafe work.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years of experience with MEP systems, including:
  • Building management systems (BMS)
  • Cooling infrastructure
  • Critical plumbing
  • Electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS)
  • Electrical distribution
  • UPS systems
  • Support utilities
• Experience in mission-critical or large-scale commercial projects.
• Background in HVAC, Controls, Operations, or Mechanical Field Services.
• Industry trade certifications or licenses are a plus.
• Experience with construction/commissioning software (e.g., ACC, Procore, CxAlloy).

Schedule

This position works between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required. Travel is 100%.
