About the role

The Engineered Solutions Group (ESG) at Instron is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to design custom automation systems for material testing. This role involves working with multidisciplinary teams to develop solutions for a wide range of industries, including medical devices, aerospace, consumer electronics, and packaging materials.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop custom automation systems for material testing
  • Lead complex engineering projects from concept through implementation
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects with urgency
  • Provide input on design, material selection, finishes, manufacturing process, and their limitations
  • Work collaboratively with other multidisciplinary engineers, manufacturing team, sales team, and service team members
  • Contribute to design, material testing, system testing, and design verification
  • Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and customers to ensure successful project completion

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a design or manufacturing environment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, Software, and/or Electrical Engineering skills are a plus

  • System testing and design verification experience, including setting up and conducting tests, data acquisition, and statistical analysis, summarizing data, and writing reports

Pay

This position has a starting salary range of $91,200 to $114,000 per year. Pay is determined by several factors, including a candidate’s experience, relevant skills, and qualifications.

Schedule

Mainly onsite office environment with little, if any, exposure to adverse conditions. Periodic exposure to a manufacturing environment. Occasional domestic and international travel required.
