Position Summary

The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling machinery, subassemblies, and integrated systems by interpreting blueprints and following detailed build sequences. The role requires the use of hand and power tools, troubleshooting of mechanical systems, and ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and within quality and budget standards.

Position Duties & Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and understand blueprints and drawings including identifying parts to drawing, symbol recognition and material recognition.
  • Utilize drawings to plan assembly and build sequence.
  • Build assemblies, sub-assemblies, segments of machines and construct/assist in constructing standalone machines and/or large integrated systems.
  • Utilize a variety of power and hand tools for assembly.
  • Communicate potential problems to Lead / Manager.
  • Ensure assembly and build tasks are completed within budget and on-time per schedule.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems built.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Understand and maintain both quality and quantity standards and expectations.
  • Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance.
  • Responsible for accurately reporting hours worked in MES.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ related experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must understand directions and respond verbally as required.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for up to 8 hours per day.
  • The employee frequently uses hands and arms to handle materials and equipment and may be required to walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times loud.
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
