About the Role

Perform routine electronic, mechanical, or composite assembly tasks under moderate supervision using a variety of tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine electronic, mechanical, or composite production assembly operations following specific verbal and written instructions.
  • Execute assembly process tasks such as welding, wiring, brazing, soldering, gel coating, painting, sanding, and cutting.
  • Make routine mechanical, electronic, or composite adjustments and alignments.
  • Read and interpret routine assembly schematics and blueprints.
  • Perform related assembly duties utilizing standard and specific tools/fixtures as required.
  • Composite assemblers may kit foam, cut material layup panel, operate oven, drill and grind, perform panel surface prep, hardware installation, packing, MSF-Beam prep, sandblasting, layup, trimming, crimping, testing, and packing.
  • Perform rework resulting from drawing change notices.
  • Work in a clean room environment when required.
  • Check own work for conformance to workmanship standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand mechanical prints at an advanced level.
  • Ability to conduct 60% of assembly tasks independently.
  • Proficiency in using specific hand tools and equipment to measure mechanical assemblies independently.
  • Proficiency in using computer tools for assemblers: looking up drawings, RN, databases, etc.
  • Basic Excel spreadsheet skills.
  • Following certifications may be required: Vacuum Leak checking, GTAW/TIG, RF Braze, Cold match/cold test, Laser welding, Torch Brazing, Resistance spot welding, Cascade furnace control, Grid Blast.
  • Intermediate problem-solving skills and ability to find solutions/remove roadblocks for task completion.
  • Visual attention to detail and good eye/hand coordination.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certificate in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing assembly.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to use a microscope for extended periods for electronic or mechanical assembly.
  • Able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.
  • Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined under ITAR and EAR (citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual).

  • Heat guns and glue guns
  • Tie wrap guns
  • Crimpers and crimping machines
