About the role

Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced, intelligent solutions for the aerospace and defense industry, is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Assembler to join our Specialty Seating Systems team. This entry-level position assembles aircraft products under direct supervision, performing routine and repetitive assembly operations.

Our Specialty Seating Systems is recognized as a leading designer, developer, and manufacturer of aerospace specialty seating products, including 16g dynamically certified cockpit and cabin crew seats, and 30g crashworthy helicopter seats for commercial, regional, business, and military aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and sub-assemblies per customer order.
  • Perform routine and standard tasks with minimal assistance.
  • Read and assemble standard work or blueprint instructions, with some guidance.
  • Track and receive required parts for product area; check stock bins for adequate supplies of sub-assemblies, parts, and fasteners for the work order. Contact material handler or lead if shortages exist or incorrect parts are in bins.
  • Participate in all team stand-ups and use safe ergonomic practices.
  • Pack finished product into designated carton.
  • Participate in EHS risk reduction activities and adhere to all UTAS rules and codes of conduct.
  • Identify and eliminate safety hazards to improve workplace safety.
  • Contribute continuous improvement ideas to support lean and ACE initiatives.
  • Perform other job duties as required; available for overtime as necessary.

Working Environment

  • Perform hand and body warm-up exercises to minimize potential for repetitive motion injuries.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Work in a standing position up to 8 hours per day.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Operate hand tools, electrical tools, hand cutters, measuring equipment, and light equipment.
  • Read blueprints with some supervision.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and computer skills.
  • Basic shop math skills.
  • Experience installing aircraft fasteners, solid rivets, double action bolts, NAS, MS & AN hardware.
  • Willingness to perform any task necessary to ensure on-time product delivery.
  • Willingness to cross-train and work in all areas of assembly operation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $34,653 – $60,592 USD.
