Mechanical Assembler I - 1st Shift

About the role

As an assembler, your mission is to perform assembly of products by following the process to ensure Safety, Quality, and Takt time. You will be part of a dynamic team at our Rock Hill, SC facility, working on-site and collaborating face‑to‑face. You will demonstrate safe work practices, maintain a positive proactive mindset, embrace continuous improvement, take initiative, communicate openly, and support Atlas Copco's core values of Interaction, Commitment, and Innovation.

Responsibilities

• Safety: Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations; report risk observations, near misses, and incidents promptly; use required PPE; contribute safety improvement suggestions.
• Quality: Perform tasks with a “First Time Right” mindset; use work instructions for mechanical and/or electrical assemblies (compressors, generators, pumps, medical equipment); follow quality checkpoints before moving to next stage; ask for help when needed; use only correct tools; support 5S initiatives; maintain line discipline (breaks, rules, rework).
• Delivery: Complete tasks within specified takt time; respect shop order takt time for efficiency and on‑time delivery; support rework and repair when needed.
• Cost: Ensure First Time Right to eliminate rework or scrap; respect and improve standard assembly time via Kaizen cards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training is a plus.
• 0‑1 years of manufacturing, assembly, mechanical, or related experience preferred.
• Previous professional assembly experience is not required; basic mechanical aptitude expected.

Skills

• Experience using hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, assembly procedures, and basic drawings.
• Knowledge of air compressors, generators, pumps, medical equipment, or similar products is a plus.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
