Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and follow detailed technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to assemble machinery, equipment, and subassemblies with high precision.
- Perform complex fitting, alignment, and fastening of mechanical components using tools such as torque wrenches, calipers, vises, and pneumatic tools to ensure accurate assembly.
- Conduct functional testing and troubleshooting of assembled systems to verify performance, diagnose mechanical issues, and make necessary adjustments.
- Handle, lift, and position heavy components (up to 50 pounds or more) using hoists, cranes, or manual methods, ensuring safe and efficient material handling.
- Operate machinery to test functionality, including control levers, hydraulic systems, and precision instruments, while evaluating performance against specifications.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols, using appropriate PPE, and identifying potential hazards in the assembly process.
- Contribute to 5S workplace organization initiatives by maintaining a clean, organized workspace and proposing process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and engineers to ensure high-quality assembly outcomes and maintain positive working relationships.
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior experience in mechanical assembly, repair, or maintenance, with proficiency in using precision tools (e.g., torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators).
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues during assembly or testing.
- Basic math and measurement skills, including the ability to use tape measures, calipers, and perform calculations involving fractions, percentages, and tolerances.
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team, with a strong work ethic, reliable attendance, and focus on quality and safety.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Advanced experience in mechanical assembly, including hydraulic, pneumatic, or electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or 5S methodologies.
- Ability to write basic reports and maintain detailed assembly records.
- Vocational training or certification in mechanical technology, machining, or a related field.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, variable temperature, humidity, noise, and exposure to industrial materials such as oils, grease, and solvents).
- Physical demands include lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning items weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
- Potential hazards include powered vehicles, pedestrian traffic, sharp tools, moving machinery, compressed air, and hydraulic systems.
- Workdays may extend up to 10 hours with overtime as required.
