About the role
The Mechanical Assembler produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies. Prepares work by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
Responsibilities
- Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
- Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
- Ensures the safety and productivity of all employees assigned to a designated shift/department.
- Follows all safety and processing procedures.
- Enables effective communications between management and employees.
- Assists in the training of new employees and coaches existing employees on proper procedures and proper use of equipment.
- Reports all incidents relating to safety, attendance, and poor performance to Department Manager.
- Suggests and implements cost-saving ideas.
- Attends required meetings and trainings.
- Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
- Cleans up at end of shift.
- Fosters a culture that values family, innovation, collaboration, and empowerment.
- Follows all safety and workplace policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment or similar experience.
- Operating knowledge of department processing equipment and processes.
- Experience working with multiple material types (Wood, Metal, Plastic, Laminates, Veneers, Adhesives, Wiring, etc.).
- Experience using light power tools, hand tools, and tape measures.
- Able to read and understand written work instructions.
- Flexibility to travel between multiple PD locations.
