Mechanical/Applications Engineer

Responsibilities

• Engineer custom heavy-duty positioning equipment, weld fixtures, and automation systems.
• Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed fabrication drawings using CAD software.
• Review customer prints to determine optimal positioning, lifting, and rotation solutions.
• Perform structural sizing and component selection for bearings, gearboxes, motors, and drives.
• Create bills of materials (BOMs) and support documentation for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with fabrication, machining, and assembly teams to ensure manufacturability.
• Participate in customer discussions to define application requirements and provide technical support for installation and start-up as needed.
• Support each project lifecycle from concept through build, test, and installation.
• Assist team with integration of motors, drives, PLCs, and control components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and system issues during assembly and testing, and support continuous improvement initiatives for cost, safety, quality, and standardization.
• Occasional travel (10-20%) may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, industrial equipment, or automation, including weldments and structural steel assemblies.
• Proficiency with industry-standard 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar.
• Manufacturing knowledge of motors, gearboxes, bearings, and power transmission components.
• Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and specifications, and excellent problem-solving skills with a "hands-on" mindset.
