Mechanic/Technician Apprentice (Meadowbrook/South Salt Lake)
Job Summary
Participates in related technical instruction and attends classroom instruction as required and passes written tests. This is a competency based program.

Manual Tasks
Performs manual tasks under supervision as needed. Assists advance-skill employees in complex repairs and component rebuild using hand and power tools as directed.
Preventative Maintenance
Performs preventative maintenance inspections and associated repairs.
Other Duties
Performs other related duties as assigned. See the Collective Bargaining Agreement for details.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Current, or ability to obtain a class “B” CDL with passenger endorsement within 60 days of eligibility
- Must have ALL of the following:
- A current, or ability to acquire, valid Class B CDL driver’s license and associated endorsements
- Able to pass both an aptitude and standardized test determined by UTA
- UTA will pay the standardized test fee, one time, for qualifying employees
- The required tools
- A safe driver with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
- No violations of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years
Education and Experience
- A 2-year degree in a related field
- A military MOS in a related field
- One year of related technical school AND one year of related experience
- 6 months UTA experience (TVT/Helper level)
- An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Pay Rate
$27.13 - $31.13 per hour plus $1.00 to $1.50 shift differential depending on shift, if applicable. This is a four year wage progression. The Apprentice shall receive an additional $.30 per hour each six months as an Apprentice up to the top Apprentice rate beginning six months after the start of the apprenticeship program. Upon graduation, apprentices shall advance to the Journeyist classification and wage (current $36.82 per hour).
Shift
9:00 pm - 7:30 am with Sunday/Monday/Tuesday off
