AHF Products has a job opportunity for a Sorting Mechanic located in Crossville, TN, reporting to the Sorting Supervisor. This position is responsible for production functions required by the Sorting department and assists other positions in the department as needed. This is an on-site role requiring adherence to scheduled and assigned work hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform Preventative Maintenance and repairs on equipment, adhering to proper PPE/LOTO procedures.
- Sort tile when needed and assist ware handlers and sorters.
- Work on sorting lines, including size changes and measuring tiles.
- Operate a tow motor, forklift, pallet jack, cardboard baler, stretch wrap machine, and independent bander.
- Hand stack tile and use calipers to measure tile.
- Communicate with Kiln, Press, S&S, Maintenance, and CDC departments on various subjects.
- Maintain 5S and TPMs, ensuring they are up to date and filled out.
- Run loader and unloader (B&T) lines #1 and #2 on Sorter, reset hoppers when full, and replace lines.
- Put boxes in the line and dispose of cardboard using the baler.
- Work on Kaizen for continuous improvement and complete tasks from the Gemba board.
- Maintain an ongoing log of repairs and future repair needs.
- Work closely with the Stockroom for parts locations and availability, adhering to stockroom procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts, and materials used for PMs.
- Perform scheduled PMs on all Sorting Dept equipment: B&T Loaders, Calibers, Stackers, Boxers, Palletizers, Banders, Labelers, and Line Conveyors.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, maintaining housekeeping standards for a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform any other duties that may be required or assigned.
Requirements
- Certification or equivalent work experience in maintenance.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills in dealing with employees, management, and vendors.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to work holidays and available for overtime as necessary, including other shifts and abnormal hours.
- Must pass a mandatory pre-employment drug test, physical, and criminal background check.
Physical Demands
- Frequent climbing, bending, standing, walking at a brisk pace for 8+ hours a day, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional lifting of up to 80 pounds, alone or with assistance, following proper lifting techniques.
- Frequent dexterity with hands for use of tools.
- Frequent vision sufficient to see tools and equipment clearly.
- Frequent hearing with the use of ear protection.
- Frequent ability to tolerate and work at heights.

Qualifications
- Certification or equivalent work experience in maintenance.
Pay
Base pay rate ranges from $21.25 to $26.08 per hour, with eligibility for a 2nd shift premium. Raise progression is based on company skill training completed.
