About the Role

This position performs a wide variety of maintenance tasks, including but not limited to mechanical maintenance work such as installation, fabrication, assembly, set-up, and diagnosis.

Responsibilities

• Preventive and corrective maintenance on plant and facilities equipment.
• Troubleshooting and servicing equipment using hand and maintenance tools and skills.
• Works from blueprints, sketches, written, and verbal instructions.
• Operates equipment such as saws, benders, breaks, pipe threaders, drills, gauges, micrometers, industrial fork trucks, hand trucks, machine tools, welding equipment, carts, ladders, and lifts.
• Performs tasks including removing and reinstalling equipment, bearing replacements, equipment rebuilds, pipe bending and installation, etc.
• Provides cross-training for other skilled trades.
• May participate in a work group or team utilizing business skills such as writing and entering work orders, material purchasing, project coordination, quotes and estimates, and computer use.

Requirements

This position has a skill/certification module with the following expectations:

• Works independently, coordinates preventive maintenance (PMs), rebuilds, shutdowns, and other employees as required.
• Displays innovativeness when dealing with complex problems.
• Trains others in maintenance techniques designed for sensitive processes.
• Works as a team member; prepares maintenance projects and layouts, interfaces with customers, vendors, and suppliers.
• Responsible for the quality of work, timeliness, and work methods/practices.

Additional modules may be defined and added for evaluation purposes.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a 2-year Mechanical Associate Degree and at least 8,000 on-the-job hours, or more than 4 years of experience.
• Must be willing to work a rotating shift schedule.
• Must pass a "Fit for Duty" exam designed for the Mechanic role.
• This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

Pay

Starting pay for this position is $36.92 per hour. Compensation and benefits are dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
