Mechanic - Rolling Stock Dozers/Scrappers/Blades
We are seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Maintenance team in the Rolling Stock Shop at our North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM), the largest surface coal mine in the world, located in Wright, Wyoming. The mine produces high-quality thermal coal and has approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves. Wright is a safe, tight-knit community in Campbell County with outstanding schools and various recreational opportunities. Responsibilities
- Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values
- Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System
- Inspect work area and plant for hazards, damage, and defects
- Examine drawings or specifications to determine work methods, sequence of activities, or manufacture of components
- Diagnose faults or breakdowns in heavy and light-duty equipment, including Dozers, Loaders, Blades, Scrapers, and Rubber Tire Dozers
- Estimate time and materials required to complete jobs
- Raise orders for materials
- Perform repairs or component changeouts as required
- Clean and maintain tools and work area
- Train other personnel or apprentices (if required)
- Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the company
Requirements
- 3 months of experience and trade certification preferred
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and at different times of day
- Ability to work overtime as required by the Company
- Ability to train others
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
- Ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
- Ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps, and climb on and off equipment and ladders
- Ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs, and good hand-to-eye coordination
- Ability to lift/raise 10–50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
- Ability to work in extreme conditions, including changing weather, dust, mud, varying noise levels, light and dark, artificial light, and confined work areas
Schedule
- Required shifts include days, evenings, and nights with rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays
