As a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic, you’ll perform mechanical work to install, overhaul, maintain, alter, and repair equipment across our plant, with a focus on rigging, welding, heavy-equipment operation, and other millwright functions.
Responsibilities
- Follow specific instructions, drawings, manuals, and specifications to obtain materials, tools, and equipment for assigned tasks.
- Perform system and component installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and service as required.
- Assist others in system operation, care, use, and maintenance of equipment.
- Support special projects and perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope of this role.
- Collaborate with other trades on joint projects where skill crossover allows shared responsibilities.
- Escalate difficulties to your leader or supervisor.
- Obtain and maintain required licenses, operator permits, and certifications within your trade specialization.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- General mechanical background and training with knowledge of pipefitting, carpentry, mechanical mechanisms, tools, and measuring instruments.
- Understanding of overhaul methods, repair techniques for mechanical equipment, and ability to work from drawings and service manuals.
- Equivalent to 2–3 years of trades training.
- 1–2 years of experience.
Priority consideration is given to internal and recall candidates who are IAM Bargaining Unit members of District Lodge 26 and Affiliated Locals 700 and 1746 (Connecticut Operations).
