Responsibilities
- Perform advanced inspections and diagnostics on mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, brakes, hubs, drive, and steer assemblies.
- Plan and execute complex repairs, including part identification and restoration to OEM specifications.
- Operate and test repaired equipment to confirm compliance with operational standards.
- Complete thorough documentation for all work orders and maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, wiring, and components.
- Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Aid with crane maintenance and major repairs under supervision.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software (e.g., Cummins, Volvo, PLC systems).
- Inspect rigging gear (slings, shackles, straps, chains, wires, cables) for wear and compliance.
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments; coordinate major repairs with maintenance.
- Ensure gear is properly stored, organized, and available for operational use.
- Assign tools and gear to crews and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 mechanics in troubleshooting and complex repairs.
- Share best practices and assist in training junior team members.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations teams regarding equipment status.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or crane maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools.
- Knowledge of rigging gear and safe handling practices.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability standards.
- TWIC card required or able to obtain.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
