Mechanic I - Entry Level

About the role

Primetals Technologies USA, LLC is seeking a 3rd shift Mechanic at its Decatur, AL facility. The position requires a current, valid driver's license and the ability to pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Completes preventive maintenance requirements on production machines.
• Follows diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
• Traces malfunctions by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and inspection instruments.
• Dismantles devices, uses hoists, cranes, hand and power tools, and adjusts functional parts of equipment.
• Controls downtime through effective routine preventive maintenance techniques.
• Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

• Current, valid driver license.
• Ability to read and interpret measuring instruments.
• Prior industrial/mechanical maintenance experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Physical Activities: frequent walking, standing, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying of up to 20 lbs; occasional climbing, kneeling, crouching, lifting and carrying of up to 50-30 lbs.

Skills

• Hand, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
• Indicators, gages, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

Classification and base pay rate will be dependent upon skillset and prior experience.
