About the role
Perform skilled technical and mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of Town trucks, vehicles and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Disassembling engines, transmissions, or other similar units to inspect parts for wear
- Repairing or replacing parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, bearings and hydraulics
- Conducting inspections and participating in a preventive maintenance program to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all town vehicles and related equipment
Requirements
- Completion of a standard high school course, or equivalent GED program
- Vocational or technical certification in the Mechanic Field, electrical, air and hydraulic systems, small engine repair, metal fabrication, and shop maintenance preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a mechanic preferred
- Possession of a valid Driver's License
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License A, or the ability to obtain one within one (1) year
- Possession of a valid Virginia State Inspection Sticker License, or the ability to obtain one within one (1) year
