About the role
Covia is seeking a dynamic Heavy Equipment Mechanic for its Thompson, OH location. This position will positively impact the Operations team.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty equipment & vehicles
- Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
- Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
- Repairing damaged equipment parts
- Performing major repair work as needed
- Testing and verifying correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
- Completing related paperwork and accessing databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, etc.) accurately and timely
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or AA in Applied Diesel Technology, preferred
- Knowledge of database software, internet software, & manufacturer software
- Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment
- Product knowledge of gas, diesel, electrical, electronic, and mechanical components
