Mechanic Diesel Technician

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Richmond, VA, offering a stable career with weekly pay and excellent benefits.

Pay

• Hourly Pay: $26.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter, four times per year

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, weekends off
• First Shift: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations, which could include but are not limited to Service Island support

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification or Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required fields preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Must pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder Background and Motor Vehicle Check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
