Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations, which could include Service Island support

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification
• Post‑secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred (position requires driving Ryder vehicles; must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire)
• Must pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder Background and Motor Vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Note: Some positions may require additional screening such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer.

Pay

• Hourly pay: $28.19 per hour
• Certification bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly bonus: up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
• Sign‑on bonus: $500 at 30 days and $500 at 90 days

Schedule

Monday–Friday, First Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
