Mechanic, CAT3

About the role

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is seeking a Mechanic, CAT3 to support a government customer in Kaua'i, Hawai'i. Under general direction of a supervisor or lead‑person, the incumbent will perform a variety of work related to the operation and maintenance of transportation vehicles and equipment, ensure timely completion of assigned duties, and prepare and maintain related reports and records.

Responsibilities

• Operate diagnostic and other test equipment related to vehicle maintenance and repair
• Prepare shop repair orders
• Research and identify parts from catalogs
• Perform maintenance, repair, overhaul, and replacement of parts related to the operation of vehicles and equipment
• Operate all vehicles and equipment
• Apply knowledge of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment, electrical systems, electronic controls, hydraulics, brake systems, and drive‑train components
• Work with semi‑skilled and skilled craftspersons and coordinate with other activities to ensure quality and timely completion of duties
• Provide guidance, orientation, and training to newly assigned employees
• Responsible for the care of government equipment, tools, property, and materials; ensure proper maintenance and safeguarding
• Perform specific tasks in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions while observing safety, fire, health, and work rules
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
• Handle physical tasks including lifting, pushing, or pulling over 50 pounds (with a 2‑person assist); walk or stand for extended periods; perform work requiring repeated stooping
• Work in environments that include customer contact, confined work areas, and field assignments

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate’s degree or completion of a two‑year technical or trade school (or equivalent)
