Mechanic-B

About the role

Mechanic-B position at Rain for Rent involves repairs and maintenance of diesel and gasoline industrial and submersible pumps. The role also includes positively representing the company and maintaining good relations with customers.

Responsibilities

• Performs a full inspection on pumps independently, not including specialty pumps.
• Diagnoses and repairs pump ends and priming systems.
• Diagnoses and repairs pump electrical systems, starters, alternators, and wiring harnesses.
• Troubleshoots for priming and performance issues on Centrifugal Pump Systems.
• Understands the relationship between engine RPM, pressure, and volume from the pump curve.
• Identifies needs for spill protection, cribbing, and safety barriers/warnings.
• Loads, secures, delivers, unloads, and installs pumps for customers.
• Inspects, examines, and tests pumps using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
• Travels to customer sites to troubleshoot or make repairs as needed.
• Demonstrates knowledge of up to five skills required for branch-specific work.
• Absorbs and provides training to lower-level mechanics as needed.
• Completes paperwork and electronic documents as required by management.
• Participates in the on-call rotation as needed.

Qualifications

• 2 to 3 years of mechanic experience.
• Able to demonstrate duties and responsibilities of a mechanic C.

Skills

• Knowledge of pipe fittings and flanges.
• Ability to identify different types and sizes of pipe and hose fittings.
• Ability to demonstrate pipe and hose assembly methods for safe and secure assembly.
• Ability to demonstrate correct positioning, suction, and discharge assembly, suction screening, valves, LOTO, nurse tank, and power supply.
• Understanding of the relationship between engine RPM, pressure, and volume from the pump curve.
• Ability to identify needs for spill protection, cribbing, and safety barriers/warnings.
• Ability to load, secure, deliver, and unload pumps for customers.
• Ability to understand and apply work order and branch metrics.
• Ability to use a calculator, cellular telephone, and tape measure/ruler.
• Ability to read a map, plan routes, and calculate distances.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends.
