Mechanic-B

About the role

Mechanic-B positions at Rain for Rent® are responsible for repairing and maintaining diesel and gasoline industrial and submersible pumps. These roles also involve positively representing the company and maintaining good relations with customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full inspection on a pump independently, not including a specialty pump.
• Diagnose and repair pump ends and priming systems.
• Diagnose and repair pump electrical systems, starters, alternators, wiring harnesses.
• Identify and address priming and performance issues on Centrifugal Pump Systems.
• Understand the relationship between engine RPM, pressure, and volume from the pump curve.
• Diagnose and repair trailer issues, including trailer electrical, wheels, tires, and bearings.
• Identify and understand the relationship between pipe fittings and flanges, and demonstrate pipe and hose assembly methods.
• Identify needs for spill protection, cribbing, and safety barriers/warnings.
• Load, secure, deliver, unload, and install pumps for customers.
• Inspect, examine, and test pumps using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
• Travel to customer sites to troubleshoot or make repairs as needed.
• Understand the relationship between work orders and branch metrics.
• Demonstrate knowledge of up to five skills required for branch-specific work.
• Absorb and assist in the training of lower-level mechanics as needed.
• Complete paperwork/electronic documents as required by management.
• Participate in the on-call rotation as needed.

Qualifications

• 2 to 3 years of mechanic experience.
• Able to demonstrate duties and responsibilities of a mechanic.

Skills

• Knowledge of pipe fittings and flanges.
• Manual dexterity for reaching/handling items.
• Ability to read maps and calculate distances.
• Flexibility to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Use of a calculator, cellular telephone, and tape measure/ruler.
• Ability to use a tape measure/ruler.
