Full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Shop Manager.
About the role
Select Water Solutions’ Mechanic diagnoses mechanical problems, repairs and rebuilds equipment on or off-site, and maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections, preventative maintenance, vehicle adjustments, alignments, and record-keeping. Each employee is responsible for conducting job tasks in a safe, healthy, and environmentally prudent manner.
Responsibilities
- Maintain transportation fleet to ensure safety and protection of employees, clients, and the public, including environmental safeguards.
- Conduct periodic inspections and review daily pre- and post-trip reports.
- Correct identified deficiencies and schedule/oversee major repairs.
- Complete required documentation and maintain open communication with management on repair and maintenance status.
- Ensure a clean, safe work environment at all times.
- Maintain shop and field maintenance equipment, including periodic calibration.
- Identify and maintain an inventory of high-use, common maintenance items.
- Function “on-call” to respond to emergency call-outs.
- Control costs of in-house and outsourced maintenance or repairs through warranty and vendor evaluation.
- Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change with or without notice.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility to drive a company vehicle according to Select’s insurance guidelines.
- Heavy-duty truck mechanic experience.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing Diesel Exhaust Aftertreatment systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, diesel engine problems, as well as hydraulic, pump, and vacuum equipment.
- Experience working on tractor-trailers.
- Basic welding skills.
- Understanding of necessary safety procedures and precautions.
- Intermediate knowledge of computers/laptops and hand/power tools.
- Knowledge of the oil and gas industry (preferred).
- Ability to travel to off-site locations for repair.
- Ability to use battery and charging system test equipment.

Pay
$25/hr – $30/hr.
Physical Demands and Exposures
- Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain, extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts, and exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet/humid conditions, vibration, and dust.
- Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to individually lift up to 50 lbs.
