Mechanic

About the role

The RWJBH Mechanic performs a wide variety of maintenance duties in and around the buildings of the Medical Center complex. Occasionally, assists tradesmen and other workers in completing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment safely and effectively.
• Installs and repairs locks, doors, windows and screens.
• Performs general carpentry work.
• Performs routine and preventative maintenance on non-clinical hospital equipment, and inspects the equipment for safety.
• Repairs or replaces broken or worn parts as required.
• Repairs and troubleshoots plumbing fixtures, sinks, toilets, and drain lines.
• Cleans and snakes out clogs if needed.
• Repairs or replaces ceiling Grids, tiles, and other basic items.
• Repairs, maintains, nurse call systems and tube systems throughout hospital.

Requirements

• High School diploma and two to three years of relevant work experience.
